          Al Arqam Academy Registration and Admissions Policy

 

Application and admission of new students to the Academy is conducted according to the following policy;

 

Re-registration

  1. In February of each year registration process begins by asking all current students to re-register for the new school year via the form link which is sent by SMS, and engage.
  2. Re-registration is accepted only after the re-registration form and fee have been submitted.
  3. The number of vacant places for the new school year is determined according to the re-registration results based on the payment

 

 

Waiting List

  1. Siblings of existing students and daughters of staff are given priority for the waiting list for available places.
  2. An SMS and a message via Engage is sent to current families and staff with the link for the sibling registration on the waiting list.
  3. Siblings and staff daughters are given one week to complete the form for the waiting list via the link provided.
  4. Applicants on the sibling or staff daughter link who are in fact not a sibling or staff daughter will be removed from the list.
  5. An announcement is made via the school social media such as the website, Twitter and Facebook to inform the general public of the opening of the waiting list.
  6. A link is opened on the website for applications for the waiting list from the general public for all year groups. Students are given the opportunity to sit for the entrance test based on the order of registration on the link.
  7. The general public link will be open for one week.
  8. After the announcement for open registration from the Ministry of Education, student affairs will contact the candidates to inform them that they are invited to sit for the entrance test.
  9. Based upon the number of places available for each year group the appropriate number of students is given an appointment for the entrance test.

Entrance Test

         

  1. Students who are given an appointment for the entrance test must come to school to pay the non-refundable entrance test fee and provide a copy of their birth certificate, ID card and/or passport of student most recent school report showing the class, year group, date and results.
  2. Each section of the school will indicate the days that parents can come to pay and provide the required documents.
  3. The entrance test policy and medical forms will be sent to the candidates via email for them to print and bring with them. With a list of the required documents and fees.
  4. Students who have paid the fee and provided the required documents will be given an appointment for test. Parent must bring the receipt for the exam payment to the actual exam.
  5. Entrance tests are done for English, Maths and Arabic. KG students are also evaluated on their personal, social and physical ability to attend full time school.
  6. The school will not provide names of possible tutors for the entrance test.
  7. Students must past all areas with 50% for secondary, 60% for Primary and 60 % percent for KG or better in order to qualify for a place in the school.
  8. Students who arrive late for their test appointment or are absent will lose their place on the list.
  9. Secondary students must also attend an interview with their parents as part of the entrance test process.
  10. The results of the entrance test will provided by a formal report within one week of the entrance test or the retest. The individual indicated for each school should prepare this report. The head of school and the Academy Principal must sign this form.

Retests

  1. Secondary Students who fail only one subject on the entrance test with marks between 45% and 49% may request a one-time retest.
  2. Primary students who fail one subject with marks from 55% to 59% may be request a one-time retest.
  3. KG students who refuse or are unable to complete the test may request a retest one-time.
  4. Those students who qualify for a retest must request a new test date, pay the retest fee and sign the retest form in the student affairs office. 

Registration

  1. Students who pass the entrance test are given one week to complete the registration forms and submit all required documents and fees.
  2. The registration forms and most recent approved student handbook and policies will be sent by email to the accepted students for them to read and fill out.
  3. Students who do not submit the required forms, documents and fees within one week will lose their place. Note that entrance test fees and retest fees are non-refundable.
  4. All students offered a place in the school must submit the following to open a file in the school and to register;
    • Completed registration form with all information filled in.
  • Report cards from previous schools certified by Ministry of Education
  • Medical File including vaccination documents
  • Copy of passport for the student, mother and father
  • Copy of I.D for student, mother and father.
  • Copy of student's birth certificate
  • Four recent passport photos (photo must be in Hijab for students from years 5 to 12)
  • Non-refundable registration fee (for exact fee please see our SEC approved fee schedule)
  • Read and sign the student handbook and policies
